President Moon Jae-in urges Japan to stop
its trade restrictions on South Korea, warning that it’s a game that can have no winner and
only hurts both sides. Japan approves the first shipment to South
Korea of one of the key materials it’s restricting. Reports say Tokyo is trying to show that its
trade curbs are not a total embargo. Global environmental watchdogs say Japan plans
to release a million tons of radioactive wastewater into the Pacific Ocean…. strongly condemning
the move that would increase the exposure to radiation in neighboring countries, especially
South Korea. The new U.S. defense chief, Mark Esper will
soon land in Seoul for talks with his South Korean counterpart set for tomorrow. Attention is focused on whether he will request
an increase in the amount that South Korea has to pay for stationing U.S. troops in the
nation.
